It was built during the reign of Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal by Tensung Namgyal as a palace for Her Highness Pendi Ongmu. Today, the monastery is supported by iron railings, and a new Gumpa is under construction as the old structure suffered damage due to an earthquake in the seventeenth century. Ngadak is one of the oldest monasteries in Namchi and offers a serene space for contemplation amidst nature.
Serdup Choling Monastery:
This captivating Buddhist place of worship, Serdup Choling Monastery, is one of the best attractions to visit in Namchi. Set against the backdrop of Mount Khangchendzonga, it is separated by the monks' quarter. The main altar proudly displays three statues of Guru Rimpoche, Santaraksita, and Tri Detson.
Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary:
Maenam is a treasure trove of exceptional wildlife in Namchi. Ideal for nature enthusiasts, this sanctuary sits at around 10,600 feet and covers an area of 36.34 sq. km. Here, you can spot various species of wildlife, including the Red Panda, Serow, Goral, Barking Deer, Leopard-Cat, Marbled-Cat, Civet-Cats, and a variety of birds like the Common Hill Partridge, Sunbird, and Black Eagle. Besides wildlife sightseeing, Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary is also an excellent trekking destination.
